The best male and female competitor of the day will each be awarded an additional $ 300.

N.B. :

  • The three events for women only and the Jack & Jill event will determine the best female competitor of the day.
  • In case of a tie, the prizes will be split between the competitors.
  • In case of a tie, the highest score will be given to both competitors.
  • In case of a tie for the champion of the day, the title and the award will be given to the competitor who has achieved the most first places, if not the most second places, and so on.


Events and Rules

Warm-up

  • 15 minutes of general warm-up before the competitions (see your schedule)
  • 5 minutes of warm-up before each chain saw class
  • 1 minute of preparation at the time of the official’s signal
  • chain saw sounds must not be heard outside of the time indicated above
  • all who are absent or late will be disqualified

To start « Cold Start »

  • saws must be off (for the women’s «Stock saw» the saws will be started)
  • two hands on log with your ten fingers passing the superior middle line
  • the chronometer will start when fingers leave the middle line
  • you must respect the official’s count down « Compétiteur prêt, chronométreur prêt, GO ».

Objectives

  • must achieve three completed cuts (2 for the women’s «Stock saw competition»)
  • first cut must be downward
  • must obtain three whole discs (2 for the women’s «Stock saw competition»)
  • the three discs must be cut from a maximum of 6 inches of wood
  • if the disc is incomplete, a re-try in the same 6 inches of wood is allowed.
  • The total time of both will be retained including cutting time of completed and not completed discs, if the timers did not stop their chronometer.
  • Bowsaw (Round Aspen of 10 inches)

Warm-up

  • none, absentees and late arrivals will be disqualified

Start

  • bucksaw blade resting on the log
  • no start cut
  • must obtain one whole disc
  • thickness of wood allowed is 1,5 inches
  • the chronometer will start at the competitor’s first move and will stop when the log is completely sectioned
  • respect as much as possible the official’s count down « Compétiteur prêt, chronométreur prêt, GO ».

Warm-up

  • none, absentees and late arrivals will be disqualified

Start

  • a starting cut with a maximum 8 inch arc is allowed
  • thickness of wood allowed is 1,5 inches to 2 inches
  • must obtain one whole disc
  • the chronometer will start at the competitor’s first move and will stop when the log is completely sectioned
  • must respect the official’s count down « Compétiteur prêt, chronométreur prêt, GO »

Warm-up

  • none, absentees and late arrivals will be disqualified

Rules

  • the rule of the 4 nails to prevent «slab» is applied
  • the competitors must start with their backs to the spectators and finish facing the spectators
  • for the Spring board, it is necessary to make 2 landings at regular intervals

Start

  • the chronometer will start when the axe touches the log and will stop when the log is completely chopped through
  • must respect the official’s count down « Compétiteur prêt, chronométreur prêt, GO »
  • qualifications start in the morning. The top 5 scores will be retained for the afternoon finals
  • qualification and competition : 1 practice throw, 3 combined throws
  • in case of a tie, the competitors concerned will have a tie breaker of : 1 practice throw, 2 combined throws
  • If a competitor does not take his practice throw, he must clearly tell the official before throwing his first axe. If he does not, the first throw will be considered his practice throw.
  • the starting line of 20 feet from the centre the target must be respected
  • if touching the borderline of two colours only, the higher pointage will prevail
  • when the 2 edges of the axe head touches the target, no points are awarded

Some important rules to remember

  • Follow the schedule to the letter. Absentees and late arrivals will be disqualified
  • Must respect as much as possible the official’s count down « Compétiteur prêt, chronométreur prêt, GO ».
  • Vacate the stands as soon as possible
  • Chain saw sounds will not be tolerated outside the time indicated previously
  • A competitor can enter only enter once per event.
  • The head judge’s job is to enforce the rules. All calls by the Head Judge will be final.

IMPORTANT

The characteristics of the wood given above (species, size and shape) correspond with the standards that Senneterre’s Lumberjack Festival is looking for. These characteristics can be changed without prior notice (ex. : Aspen 12 inches round can be changed for Aspen 9 inches square).
